As former print and broadcast journalists – often referred to as ‘poachers turned gamekeepers’ – our Quest PR team understands the pressures, deadlines and challenges facing the media.

Yorkshire is home to a raft of award winning journalists – in fact one of our oldest publications, the Yorkshire Post, dates back almost 260 years. As business to business PR specialists, we want to recognise some of the great regional business reporters and editors.

BDaily

BDaily which had 120,000 unique visits in October 2013 is a forward thinking, online business news platform aimed at keeping business informed with news organised by region and sector. Its current editor is Tom Keighley who was trained in journalism at the Press Association. BDaily’s Yorkshire correspondents are Mark Lane and Clare Burnett.

BQ Magazine

Andrew Mernin edits the BQ Yorkshire magazine, a quarterly business publication led by room501 Publishing. Andrew’s career has seen him edit the BDaily Business News network as well as writing for the Journal, The Evening Chronicle and reporting for Arabian Business Magazine. BQ has a readership in excess of 40,000.

BusinessDesk

Ellie Newton- Syms is the assistant editor of TheBusinessDesk reporting on deals, appointments and breaking business stories. Ellie holds a first degree honours in Journalism from the University of Sunderland and was a former reporter and feature writer for Mail News and Media.

David Parkin, former business editor of the Yorkshire Post founded the BusinessDesk in Yorkshire in 2007 and expanded it to the North West and the West Midlands regions. Business Desk current viewing figures are 70,000.

David studied at the University of Central Lancashire in a post graduate diploma in Newspaper Journalism. He has been appointed in senior roles on newspapers in London, Cardiff and the Midlands, conducting exclusive interviews with major business figures including Sir Ken Morrison, Lord Hanson and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Often hosting and chairing events, David is asked to comment on national TV and radio. This year he was awarded an Honorary Master of Business Administration by Leeds Metropolitan University.

Business Link Magazine

Steve Fisher is editorial director of Business Link Magazine founded in 1987. For 26 years the magazine has been popular among those in industry and commerce – with readers spanning boardroom executives, senior managers and professional advisors. Steve is respected for his in depth knowledge of the local business community and understanding of issues effecting entrepreneurs and businesses. Business Link is read every month by approximately 70,000 senior businessmen and women.

Yorkshire Post

Bernard Ginns is the business editor of the Yorkshire Post which is proud of its reputation for campaigning and investigative journalism. Bernard chairs the Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards, the Yorkshire Post Environment Awards, the Yorkshire Post Business Club and the Variety Club Awards, featuring speakers such as David Cameron, George Osborne, Nick Clegg, Ed Miliband , Ed Balls and Vince Cable.

Greg Wright, deputy business editor, has worked across publications including the Press Association, Bradford T&A and the Blackpool Evening Gazette. During the dotcom boom he worked on the business desk at Ananova.com, the news service which featured the world’s first virtual newscaster. One of the first journalists to write about the “Calendar Girls” of Rylstone WI, Greg was voted Yorkshire Society Media Personality of the Year in 2010. He is a prolific award winner – scooping a tremendous 14 awards.

The Yorkshire Post circulation figures per month are currently averaging on 130,000.

Yorkshire Business Insider

Richard Abbott edits the Yorkshire Business Insider which hosts over 100 major business events across the UK and operates across the Midlands, North West, South West and Wales. A previous deputy editor at Haymarket Publishing and Campaign Middle East, Richard regularly hosts the Insider awards as well as breakfasts and round tables and spends time interviewing business leaders.

Ben Pindar  deputy editor, has more than 15 years’ experience in all aspects of the media industry, ranging from national and regional press to public relations and communications on a national scale. The Insider Magazine has a net circulation of 32,911 per regional issue.

Laurence Kilgannon is a Yorkshire correspondent for Yorkshire Business Insider reporting on deals, appointments and breaking business stories.

Yorkshire Times

The Yorkshire Times is an online newspaper for business and home news in Yorkshire Founded by Richard Trinder. It focuses on citizen journalism with opinion, commentary, and analysis prevailing over simply reporting local events. The Yorkshire Times receives over 5,000 unique hits a month.
